Goals, goals, goals. There is such a buzz going around 'on-the-line' for self-improvement goals. #Instachallenges, pintrest challenges, Facebook group challenges, fitness app challenges, clean eating challenges, yoga challenges, meditation challenges, write a novel in a month challenges, start your own business challenges, blog every day and the list could go on forever, with literally any challenge you can think of that would improve your life in the way you want it to be improved. All of these goals and challenges are so well intended; a creation in your mind built on inspiration and super charged motivation. You've seen the light and you're going to change your life, you have realised how much power you have now! But what happens when your super charged motivation begins to dim? A few days in, a few weeks or even a few months in and your charge starts to fade. The electiricity in your veins flickers and your brilliant idea doesn't seem as bright as the lightbulb once was? Maybe it's all in the way that we set ourselves up for our goals? Staying Motivated isn't always easyStaying motivated can be really difficult and feel almost out of your control, for some reason you just lose interest and that fire you built earlier begins to fade. It seems that the only time I have remained motivated throughout an entire challenge was when you had this super human PASSION, which is a luxury to say the least. Life distracts you from your goals. Get your priorities right! There is so much going on for us in daily life! I'm sure if we had all of the security and all of the resources in the world that we needed to live comfortably, then pursuing our goals would be the first thing on our minds. But there is just so much to think about and we have almost no time to do it all in. Suddenly your life changing goals and ambitions are put on the back burner because you have more important things to do. You don't have a spare moment in your mind to continue creating and building on your ideas and most importantly you have no time at all to keep pumping yourself up! Your ideas are incredible but you don't spend enough time reminding yourself to that fact. Get your priorities in order, what is truly important to you and why isn't it at the TOP of your to-do list?! #createthelifeyouloveStay Clear, Stay Focused and Remember Your WhyHow do you stay clear? What is your why and how do you stay focused? Staying Clear: What do you want in life? What do you want to create? What do you want to see? What do you want to experience? Sit down with yourself somewhere calm and ask yourself these questions. Find out what you want and make this vision crystal clear in your mind. When you create a goal, challenge, if you are offered a job, meet someone new, if you are offered an opportunity of change or if you have to make a big financial decision, ask yourself if this falls into place within your crystal clear vision of a life that you LOVE. If it doesn't fit, then don't do it. If it does fit, GO FOR IT! What is your WHY? This is probably the most important question you can ever ask yourself. This question has the power to revamp your motivation or stop an idea dead in its tracks. Your why has the power to turn heads and fill people's hearts with understanding, compassion, inspiration and drive. Why is this important to you? Why do you want this? Why do you want to manifest this in your life? Staying Focused: Making everything you want happen. Staying focused takes discipline and mindfulness. Discipline: Your motivation will certainly fade at times, for all sorts of different reasons or excuses, you decide what you want to call it. In the end the reasons and excuses don't matter at all, what you need to do at this point is return to your crystal clear vision and your WHY. Remind yourself why it is so crucial that you keep going despite all obstacles. Mindfulness: You want to start creating a life that you love? Then it's time to come off auto-pilot people. When you're own auto-pilot you will stay on the same flight path and nothing will change. Auto-pilot takes you to all sorts of places you've been a million times over: Facebook, Instgram, the same route to work or school, the same restaurants, the same people, the same music and the same movies. Be mindful as to what you do, because what you do is what you create. Is checking Facebook right now taking you closer to a life that you love? No? Then get off Facebook and remind yourself what task will take you closer to where you want to be. Mindfully choose what you should be doing to what aligns with your goals. Remember your Why: Motivator of the CenturyLosing motivation is all apart of the journey we call life. I don't know the meaning of life, but I do not that since I have been here, I have been learning and growing every single day and I have learnt that problems only stay problems until we decide to find and act out the solution. Regaining your motivation to continue to grow and develop into the brilliant person you are meant to be is not seperate from this. You will fall down and you will fade in and out but you can choose to get back up and try again and again and again; each attempt bringing more meaning purpose into your life. Don't strike out just yet despite the fact that you are tired or just over it. Remember your why and let it light your way when all you see is darkness. Your why is the most powerful attribute that you have and it is what makes you unique, let that shine through all of the scars and battle wounds from each fall and you might just see why the fall is so important. Dare to Ignite beautiful souls.

It's a close call but I still have time left in the day to complete my gratitude challenge at only day 3! If you follow the Facebook page or Instagram account, you may have seen my latest video from this morning. I was feeling horribly out-of-sorts with so much to get down in a short amount of time; so many late nights, too much pub grub and too much beer for the last few weeks. I proposed that maintaining a clean space is a means to maintain a clean headspace...the point of the matter is that I was feeling extremely unwell and this continued into my day.
My head this morning was definately spacey and slow to the point where any task, like brushing my teeth for example, became an overwhelmingy huge task that I had no idea where to begin. I reluctantly pushed through my morning exercise routine, my body aching and trembling and I continued to fumble around and ache thoughout my day. Work was arduous and there was lots of bending forward to do dishes or to lift boxes or to run food to a table very quickly across this massive pub I just came home from work just now at this late hour after not having stopped all day and the first thing I did was sit down on my yoga mat. My poor body, completely exhausted, tight and still trembling. It got me thinking, my body never ever gives up on me. If I tell my body to keep standing whilst my back muscels throb and burn, it will continue to stand. My feet never get a rest and will keep holding the entire weight of my body up. Right this moment I am not letting myself go to sleep because I need to finish this blog and my body is trying its darned hardest help me get through this last part of my day. I am so grateful for my body that I am struggling to put into words. It is a an incredible machine that even the most savvy engineer in the world could not design a robot replicate. Every cell of every organ all working in harmony, healing and growing, healing and growing. It so interesting to me in this moment how our bodies, when under dire circumstances, will find strength it did not have before in order to survive, yet our minds will so easily give up on the body; self-doubt polluting the art of being. Laying on my yoga mat was the most incredible feeling I had felt in the last few weeks. I could feel my body thanking me for taking the time to understand its hardships and aches and pains. I focused my attention on becoming curious about where and why I was sore, brushing off any monkey-ish thoughts that popped up into my mind. I explored the aches and gently eased the tension and my body responded in such gentle way that I was flooded with the feelings of love, support, understanding and above all, a graitude that I don't ever want to forget. Time to get some sleep now. Thankyou body, for being so remarkable, loving, strong and diligent in our journey of healing and happiness. Dare to Ignite I woke up at 5am this morning for work and at first I felt a little reluctant when forcing myself out of bed. It's been a while since I've had to get up before 7am so it was naturally a shock to the system.
It was dark when I made it outside but it wasn't cold which I very much enjoyed as it encouraged me to add a spring to my step. After cooking the first lot of breakfasts for the hotel, I made myself some avocado on toast and ventured outside into the warm morning air. I can't get enough of being outside, in the elements just feels like home more and more everyday. No matter what the temperature, I always have a window open a crack, gratifying my need to feel connected to the balance and harmony of nature. When I take that first step outside, the fresh morning air filling and cleansing my lungs and near simultaneously I gasp at the angelic scenery that was softly Wild Flower SeasonToday my gratitude lies with the glorious wild flower season of northern Western Australia.
I grew up in the city of Perth and the most exposure I had around the aussie outback was wheatbelt country. It's that big patch of land in the lower middle region of Western Australia. It's all in the name, wheat-belt country; gigantic wheat, lupin, barley, sheep and cattle farms. The flora is harsh, spikey and arid, there are 3-horned prickles called double-g's everywhere, there ain't much water around, salt lakes for days and the landscape seems never ending. As a child, I thought this was what the entirety of what the Australian outback looked like. Big, dry and dead. Don't get me wrong, I loved this version of the aussie landscape but since I have taken my feet wandering up north to Dampier, I now understand the terrain to be a lot more diverse and to my happy suprise, very colourful. Wildflowers are scattered all over the land, prefering to stay close to the ground with a shorter stem or they are tall with paper-like petals to accomadate the dry and hot climate. It's not like a fierce contrasting meadow full of daisies, the australian flower scene is beautiful in its subtleness, in that if you're not looking, you wouldn't notice them there; it's such a wonderful suprise when huge array of colours comes into your awareness. Wild flowers in the Aussie terrain remind me that you can always find beauty, even in the harshest of times. When I see these unique flowers scattered all around me, it inspires me to continue to look for the good things in life. Day 1.That title was all I had written for a solid 20 minutes because for some reason I cannot describe my feelings or thoughts about this epic challenge. I did some reading on other bloggers, instagramers and other gratitude challengees and it was so overwhelmingly inspiring to watch each individual grow as a person; spiritually and mindfully. I wish I had started this sooner. For me what I am looking to get out of this challenge is to continue to shift my mind-set from the glass half empty, to a glass half full. I have this very deep feeling and knowing that we can heal ourselves from any ailment, any pyschological disorder and disease. It is all just a matter of mind-set. I know in my heart that this world truly is at our finger tips, its just when you are in a state of illusion and selfish confusion - not in awareness of the bigger picture - that we seem to forget how to tap into this abundance. If I lost you, don't worry. We all have different perspectives. What I really want to say is that I think that by having more conscious gratitude and by opening up our mind-sets to see and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us in day to day life, we start on the path to health, happiness and grander things altogether. I'm not too sure of what this will lead to, but I am very excited to find out. New BeginningsToday, I am grateful for new beginnings. I am grateful in that you can choose to start a-fresh whenever you like; we always have access to a new day, a new hour or that new second when you can take a deep breath, dust your shoulders off and pick yourself up again. New beginnings have that wonderful feeling of adventure, when you get that giddy feeling in your stomach and your smile can't contain its excitement in wondering what is to come. A new beginning always lets me see how much potential I have, its a time before any fear or self-doubt kicks in to steal the show. It doesn't matter where you are in your journey or how much of the puzzle you have completed, you can have a new beginning without having to start the puzzle again. You don't hit refresh on the puzzle to start again, you leave the puzzle as it is and you hit your refresh button so that you can go back to the puzzle with a clear, focused and positive mind-set. You can do this whenever you like. 'Ere 'ere to new beginnings and the potential that we truly hold. |
AuthorMy name is Brittney and my life pursuit has been that of self-improvement and growth. It took me a long time to realize that I don't really fit into societies model that you need to go to school, find a career, strive to be extremely succesful to then get married and have kids, ever acquiring material objects. There is nothing wrong with this model at all and for those who can embrace this with whole-hearted happiness, keep going with it. Archives
